Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally-occurring plant compound from cannabis sativa that has attracted the attention of researchers, the medical community and people seeking relief from a variety of ailments. Research from the past 10 years is providing evidence for many of the medicinal and therapeutic properties of cannabis sativa, and especially of late, CBD and the endocannabinoid system.

Researchers found existing preclinical evidence that “strongly supports” CBD as an acute treatment for social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Researchers published a study in a 2014 issue of CNS & Neurological Disorders - Drug Targets, which analyzed CBD effects in rodents. Results produced anti-depressant and anti-anxiety effects from CBD-induced animals.

It its January 2019 issue, The Permanente Journal published a report that assessed preclinical and clinical treatment of CBD to ease anxiety. Results of findings concluded that CBD soothes the central nervous system and reduces anxiety.

Further scientific research will continue to shed light on the fascinating aspects of how our bodies interact with CBD.
