At Imbue Botanicals, we don’t make claims about our products. Several weeks ago, the FDA sent letters to several companies in our industry regarding claims made about their products as it pertains to certain health issues. Not only do we understand the necessity of those letters, but we wholeheartedly support the process.
For those who know…there is a substantial body of scientific and research information that exists that suggest certain cannabinoids, and specifically cannabidiol (CBD), may be beneficial with regards to certain issues, or act in specific ways which may have benefit. But let’s be clear, as a highly educated person, well-schooled in research methodology and scientific method, there is a huge chasm between the existing research and the ability to make the type of claims less scrupulous people may offer.
What research exists is more than promising. It’s intriguing, perhaps even compelling. But as any scientist will tell you, such results point to one clear and overwhelming conclusion….the need to do more research!
Having spent considerable time in the medical industry, I also know why the FDA does what it does. It exists to protect the public. When a company makes statements that claim, for instance, that CBD can “cure _____”, the statement is not only erroneous, but potentially dangerous. Some patient may decide against certain conventional treatment pathways which may have led to better outcomes, simply due to grand and glorious claims on the part of others in our industry.
Does this mean I don’t believe in the products we sell? Of course not!!! I’ve witnessed the impact they’ve had on my life personally, and on our loyal customers. And it’s why I continue, WE continue to do what we do.
But as we always tell our customers, “Do your research. Get informed, stay informed.” Talk to your healthcare providers, doctors and pharmacists. And there is no small amount information available at the simple press of a button, thanks of the miracle of Google. As Israelmore Ayivor of Daily Drive 365 so aptly puts it, “Information leads to transformation. If you are not inspired by being informed, you will expire by becoming deformed!”
And when you’re informed, you’ll be part of the group of consumers we’re betting our future on….those who know!
with all our best,
Tom
